π₯ About the Role
As a Part-time Social Worker at Sturt House, you’ll work 22.5 hours a week as a core member of the care team, supporting adult male service users in a specialist mental health rehabilitation setting. You will work alongside nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, and care staff to create recovery-focused pathways tailored to individual needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
Conducting comprehensive social care assessments and risk assessments.
Facilitating and coordinating group activities to support personal development.
Participating in ICR (Integrated Care Review) meetings, contributing to care planning and decision-making.
Collaborating with home authorities during admission and discharge planning, ensuring continuity of care.
Managing a complex caseload, balancing therapeutic goals with safeguarding requirements.
Referring to Local Authorities and ensuring compliance with safeguarding protocols.
Supporting service users with access to housing, benefits, advocacy services, and other community-based resources.
Educating internal teams about safeguarding responsibilities, legislation, and care coordination best practices.
Taking part in supervisions, team meetings, and clinical governance activities.
Leading or supporting internal investigations related to safeguarding or service delivery concerns.

Located in the tranquil surroundings of Walton on the Hill, Sturt House is a purpose-built, rehabilitation-focused mental health service for men aged 18 and above. The service is committed to least-restrictive, person-centered care that empowers individuals to reclaim autonomy and reintegrate into the community.
Service users are actively involved in the planning and review of their care, with staff supporting their journey toward recovery, independence, and improved quality of life.
π₯ About You
To thrive in this role, youβll need:
π A Social Work degree (BA, BSc, MA, CQSW or DipSW)
β Registration with Social Work England
π§ Experience working in a mental health setting, preferably within the NHS or private sector
π¬ Strong written and verbal communication skills
π§© The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
ποΈ Strong organizational skills and experience managing a complex caseload
π§ Emotional resilience and a genuine commitment to mental health advocacy and recovery
π‘ Desirable Skills & Experience
While not essential, the following are advantageous:
Prior experience in forensic, rehabilitation, or acute mental health services
Familiarity with legislation such as the Mental Health Act, Care Act, and Mental Capacity Act
Confidence in presenting assessments or reports in review meetings or tribunals
Training in safeguarding, advocacy, substance misuse, or trauma-informed care
