Your Main Responsibilities

As a Receptionist at Practice Plus Group Ilford, your role will be central to the smooth running of the hospital. Key duties include:

  • Providing a welcoming and professional reception service to all patients, visitors, and staff.

  • Meeting and greeting patients and visitors with a patient-first, customer-focused approach.

  • Answering incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally, including queries from patients, GP surgeries, and internal hospital staff.

  • Managing appointment bookings and coordinating outpatient clinic sessions in line with scheduling protocols and clinic efficiency goals.

  • Handling referrals and ensuring data is processed accurately to meet performance targets.

  • Advising patients on appointment queries both in person and via telephone.

  • Arranging patient transport including booking taxis or coordinating return travel for consultants or patients.

  • Supporting administrative tasks in alignment with the hospital’s operational standards.

We are seeking a proactive and friendly individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm and organised in a busy healthcare setting. You will thrive in a role where no two days are the same and enjoy interacting with people from all walks of life.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in a receptionist or front-of-house role (ideally in a healthcare or service sector environment).

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong telephone etiquette and the ability to handle inquiries with professionalism.

  • Comfortable using initiative and able to follow clear processes in a busy setting.

  • Confident working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Capable of managing priorities, remaining calm under pressure, and handling sensitive situations discreetly.
